“Jersey Water is required to provide water which consistently meets all of the quality requirements laid down in the Water (Jersey) Law 1972. Water Quality Team encompasses all aspects of sampling, transport and analysis of water (raw and treated) and provides regulatory assurance for the Company. It is also in place to support the business on all current and future water quality, regulatory, operational and scientific matters. These obligations were being managed, tracked and monitored via a number of manual processes, As part of an on-going improvement plan, Jersey Water identified a need for a technical solution within their laboratory environment to improve efficiency and accuracy, and to better meet the needs and future requirements of Jersey Water, its employees and its customers.”

Magellan assisted the internal team to deliver a new Laboratory Information Management System. Water Quality processes and methodologies were assessed, improved and standardised, opportunities for errors have been reduced to increase data accuracy (right 1st time), and the sample collection process (collection to reporting) has been accelerated to enable speedier decision-making. This resulted in overall improvements which enabled the Water Quality Team to build on its services to develop its advisory capabilities.”

Core System

Jersey Water had a number of disparate business systems within the organisation, the objective was to replace them with new technologies that would enable the internal operational teams to embrace a more collaborative, efficient and consistent way of working. Magellan Consultancy were partners from the beginning, assisting with identifying requirements, developing the business case and managing the system selection process via a Request for Proposal and through the procurement cycle.

Magellan provided both experience and assurance in assisting the internal teams to deliver new Expenses, HR, Finance and Asset Management systems for Jersey Water. Working alongside implementation partners, Magellan were able to deliver these new systems to help drive considerable benefits including; risk mitigation, succession planning, efficiencies via streamlined processes and automation as well as financial benefits from retiring redundant hardware & software.
